Violin / Fiddle

A NICOLAUS AMATUS make

This violin belonged to Otto Mac Moir, who was a soldier in the First World War. He has made sure that the violin and it's case was identified.

The label on the inside of the violin is a printed label with the following in typeset lettering: "NICOLAUS AMATUS fecit in CREMONA 16  " The number '37', (it is very faint and looks like it is penciled in), is handwritten after the number 16.

There is a metal-type stamp, much like an old wax seal, on the back of the violin, located up near the 'neck' of the instrument. The impression appears to be a cameo of a Greek goddess image.

German Doll

This doll is 12" high.

It's clothes and shoes seem to be the original, possibly made from muslim.

The torso is cardboard-like with mache arms and legs. The limbs are not jointed and are attached with heavy guage wire.

The markings on the nape are ' 21 ' or ' 27 ' with the next line reading ' Germany ' and the last line has ' R ' ' 8/0 ' then a mark looking like an inverted hook.
